Privacy

This covers asv-labs.com and asaltyvet.com. It is short because these sites collect very little. ASV Labs products that have their own accounts or data have their own privacy policy, and that policy applies to that product: Motif and Money Coach.

Who we are

These sites are run by A Salty Vet (ASV Labs), based in Olympia, Washington, USA. Questions about this policy go to SaltyEngineer@asv-labs.com.

Messages you send us

The contact form on asaltyvet.com asks for:

• Your name and your email address, so we can reply.
• A topic, chosen from a list.
• A subject and your message (up to 4,000 characters).

The form also has a hidden spam-trap field that people never see. The form sends to our own handler on asaltyvet.com, which runs on Cloudflare. Before it sends, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person. To stop abuse, we allow at most five messages a minute from one connection. For that we keep a one-way hash of your IP address as a counter that is deleted after two minutes. We never store your raw IP address. Your message is then emailed to our inbox, with your email address as the reply-to. The site itself does not keep your name, email or message.

Email to SaltyEngineer@asv-labs.com, and anything the form sends, is received by Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to our inbox.

We use messages only to read them and reply. Please don't send passwords, keys or private account details.

Analytics

asv-labs.com uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate visits. Analytics and advertising storage are denied before the Google tag loads, so this measurement does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Google still receives cookieless measurement pings containing technical and page information such as the page address, browser and device details, and an IP address used in transit.

asaltyvet.com does not use Google Analytics. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not set cookies.

Neither site sets any cookies when you visit.

Hosting and security

Both sites are hosted on Cloudflare: asaltyvet.com on Cloudflare Pages and asv-labs.com on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare sits in front of both, so it processes your IP address to deliver and protect them.

When your browser blocks something on asaltyvet.com under the site's security policy, it may send us a short report. We keep these reports, with your browser's user-agent but no IP address, for 30 days.

Other services

• Cloudflare Turnstile: the asaltyvet.com contact page loads Turnstile from Cloudflare.
• Esri (ArcGIS): the asaltyvet.com home page has an optional live map. It loads from Esri only if you press "Explore GIS". It shows the South Puget Sound region at regional scale and never asks for your location.
• Google Fonts: one demo page, asaltyvet.com/work/websites/plume/, loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's font servers there. Everywhere else, fonts come from our own sites.
• LinkedIn, X and GitHub: links to these sites take you to services covered by their own privacy policies.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your information, we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't share your details for marketing.

How long we keep it

• Contact messages and email: kept in our inbox; the sites themselves keep no copy.
• Contact form abuse counters: two minutes.
• Security policy reports on asaltyvet.com: 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing SaltyEngineer@asv-labs.com from the address concerned. We confirm by reply. These sites don't change their behavior for Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals, because they set no cookies and do no advertising or cross-site tracking.

Children

These sites are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top.
